How can you become a private investigator in Hungary?

Alongside professional preparation, you need to check the legal and regulatory requirements currently in force.

The first step towards professional practice

Start by understanding the tasks of private investigation, the basic methods of information gathering and the limits of evidence assessment. OSINT and professional report writing are useful skills.

Legal requirements

Private investigation is a regulated activity. Check the competent Hungarian authority’s official guidance for current qualification, notification, identification and operating requirements. A general OSINT or HUMINT course does not, by itself, authorise you to carry out regulated activities.

What should you look for in a course?

Look for lawful case studies, source evaluation, data protection awareness and practical exercises. Always distinguish professional development from a qualification required by law.
