An OSINT lecture at the University of Szeged
On 29 September 2026, we brought the Tarkó Investigations professional programme to the University of Szeged, in an informatics setting. The event offered an opportunity to discuss OSINT: the systematic collection and analysis of information from publicly available sources.
The programme featured Áron Tarkó, Ferenc Német, Vice President for Organisation and Communications of Hungary’s Chamber of Personal and Property Protection and Private Investigators, and Dávid Komporday, presenting the practical value of open-source information gathering.
Finding information is only the beginning
Data available online does not, on its own, provide a reliable answer. Its origin, relevance and context also need to be assessed. The value of a professional conclusion depends on the verifiable information and traceable reasoning behind it.
OSINT therefore goes well beyond a simple search. It requires focused questions, critical source assessment and analytical thinking. These skills are useful in informatics, research and the preparation of business decisions alike.

A professional encounter in an academic setting
The strong interest in the Szeged lecture was an encouraging response for our team. It reinforces the value of teaching information-gathering and verification methods in an academic environment.
At Tarkó Investigations, our training aims to help participants develop both practical search skills and the thinking needed for analysis. We emphasise the clear distinction between facts and assumptions, alongside the responsible use of information.
University lectures and corporate OSINT training
We extend our special thanks to Dr. László Nyúl, Head of the Institute of Informatics at the University of Szeged, for initiating the collaboration and inviting us, and to Dr. Antal Nagy, Associate Professor and Deputy Head of the Institute, for organising the programme and the warm welcome. We also thank the organising team for their work and the participants for their interest. We welcome enquiries from other universities, professional communities and companies about lectures, workshops and training.
